For the bloggers; boycott McMenamins (Edgefield). Today at 3:00 p.m. we brought our lab to McMenamins, we were told to put the dog in the car. Yes, car. Now today’s high in Portland was 91 degrees. I told them, “No, not in this weather.” So I walked to the parking lot, and sat with my dog in the shade until my relatives got some food to go. About 20 minutes later, a woman employee walks by and tells me, “There are no dogs allowed here.” We told her we’re just waiting in the shade not even close to a walkway, etc…

So, when our family just spent $100 on food we drove off only to see a dog in a car in the parking lot, unattended. So I ask McMenamins lovers out there, “Why patron this business when they are telling people to put their dogs in their car!

Outrageous. The Human Society should investigate such matters.

I own two dogs but I would not show up at a restaurant or other business and just assume they'd be welcome without calling ahead. I tried to take my kid into Horse Brass Pub once and was turned away - let's boycott! As for telling you to put your dog in the car, I agree that is a stupid employee comment, but hardly a reason to boycott an entire business. The person that actually locked their dog in the car is an irresponsible idiot and yes probably should be investigated.

Next time go to Lucky Lab

That is one of the ironic points of McMs. No Dogs Allowed. But really, could you imagine how dogs having free range at Edgefield would spoil the experience. I love my dog, but I'm glad as hell I don't have to experience the utter chaos of Lucky Lab at other locations.

Some people with dogs think they are entitled to drag the loud, disgusting and slobbering creatures wherever they please. I for say buck up! Keep them in the house, in your OWN yard or drag them to the one of many dog friendly parks out there. And if that fails drag them out to your favorite hiking trail. Just stay out of restraunts and Pubs! There are more than enough places to drag the beasts to without me having to smell them when I go out for a pint.
